For armor, Treachery (Shawl Thul Lem) is widely available. Obedience might be a stretch in NM, but I know I had the runes (Hel Ko Thul Eth Fal) very early on in Hell.

Insight is a great runeword on a budget that you should have access to (Ral Tir Tal Sol).

However it can be quite tedious to find that bade and treachery's rune are not that rare so you would rather go for the first base you find than waiting for the perfect one. First you need an ethereal armor (with lots of armor) but no sockets, then you use the cube recipe to add sockets to it, then you get lucky and get 3 sockets (1 out of 6 chance unless it's a low lvl armor). Some armors have movement penalty (those that are heavy/medium) so usually people prefer light armors like archon plate or dusk shroud (sometimes even mage plate is prefered), however for your merc you don't care about this.Īnother thing that is important to know is that you can ebug an armor. You should only be concerned about the armor on the bases (and strength as your merc might not be able to wear it).Įlite are the same as exceptional but better and requires more strength (for example archon plate is a better mage plate, dusk shroud is a better ghost armor).
